Tesla isn’t the way forward
This Reddit thread about Tesla’s autopilot being involved in a lot more collisions than initially thought is interesting both for the original article and the comments.
Not surprisingly to those who follow these sorts of things, Tesla is a shady company peddling a dangerous product. Despite overwhelming evidence of this, the techno-utopians will defend Tesla until the bitter end.
The opposite approach is what I do each evening on my way home from the office: a pleasant cycle through central Amsterdam. There are lots of complex, even chaotic, intersections with pedestrians, cars and tons of cyclists, but I navigate through them just fine because speeds are low due to good design and most people are paying attention. If there is a mishap, the low speeds prevent it from being serious.
I’ll take great urban design over some techno-utopian fantasy any day.
