Independence Day

Today marks the 31st anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.

It was fun to look through pictures over the years of how I celebrated Independence day. Last year Tania and I want to the Syretsky Botanical Garden (Ukrainian Wikipedia but plenty of pictures), which is a special place for us: that’s where I proposed, where we decided to buy our Kyiv apartment and it’s just a nice place to spend an afternoon.

This year was different, of course. We went to Dam square in Amsterdam where a lot of Ukrainians gathered.

Despite dire threats of Russia targeting more civilians, the day passed in relative calm in Ukraine. I can’t believe it’s been six months of war.
